New Builds - A plot plan is not required but is very beneficial. We will need to know the location of the proposed home, out buildings, wells, driveways, and pools. Knowing the exact number of bedrooms is not required at this stage but does give us a general idea of the potential size of the system. It is important to keep in mind any future plans for the property because once the system is in place it would be very costly to relocate. It is also very important to consider drainage outlets in advance. Many systems require perimeter drains which must tie into a tile or be able to properly drain to daylight. To learn about drainage it can be helpful to talk to people familiar with the property such as neighbors, previous land owners, realtors, and the local health department.
Repair/Replace - Most of the same considerations as new builds also apply to repair/replace. In addition it is very helpful to know the location of the existing system if at all possible.
Setbacks - It is important to keep in mind the required setbacks. This photo shows the required separation distances for residential systems.
